MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Dolphins are bringing in a stunning addition at tight finish — and it’s a reputation many thought was executed with soccer.
Veteran tight finish Darren Waller is coming out of retirement to join the Dolphins, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero confirmed Tuesday.
Miami labored out a trade with the New York Giants, who nonetheless held Waller’s rights regardless of his retirement.

The Dolphins are sending a 2026 conditional sixth-round decide to the Giants for Waller and a 2027 seventh-rounder, per a supply.
It’s primarily a free decide for New York for a participant who had already walked away from the sport — and a low-risk flier for Miami on a pass-catcher who, at his finest, was among the many league’s elite.
Waller reportedly solely wished to return to the NFL if it meant enjoying in Miami, and now he’ll get that likelihood.
A former professional bowler, Waller has beforehand suited up for the Ravens, Raiders, and Giants. Over 86 profession video games, he’s recorded 350 catches for 4,124 yards and 20 touchdowns.
